Another image from Eklutna Lake, this fall. It was only a month ago… but it seems much further away now. Alaska has shifted to more of a monochrome theme with the beginning of winter. No less beautiful than any other time of the year, to be sure… but I do miss the gorgeous colors I witnessed this past fall. Anyway, just wanted to share this image with you – I’ve been going over some images from this past year. Trying to learn from some choices I made on shoots this past year. Every time we (photographers) go out, we make choices, selections, omissions. These things will forever alter not only the images we create that day, but every day to follow. Choices are like playing with dominos. One action begets further results – these results change our perceptions on our future creativity. The only way to remain flexible and open minded is to review your past choices and ask, “what other options did I have?”. “Is there a better option? How could I have captured this moment better/more thoroughly/more distinctly?”. In short, “can I make this better”. Then, when another creative period comes, I have this note in my head that may allow me to make better choices. Time will tell:) Take care everyone.
A Reminder of Warmer Days
Hey everyone, here’s a quick image from this summer – a beautiful day spent around the Turnagain Arm and Potter’s Marsh. This is an Arctic Tern hovering just overhead at Potter’s Marsh. This particular bird was somewhat predictable, he’d swoop directly overhead, then back off a little, watching the water for small fish. If you timed it correctly, you’d have several seconds to frame and shoot off several frames as he hovered above and in front of you. Fun day with some beautiful birds.
Link updated
Finally, I’ve updated the direct link on our main website so the Journal Link now goes here (to our WordPress site), instead of the old Blogger site. One less link click you’ll have to jump from trying to get here:)
Tim has been having computer problems, so “re-taught” myself some Dreamweaver coding stuff so I could take care of the issue on my end. If anyone notices any links not working, please let me know via email or in the comments area – thanks!
